When booking an interprovincial car, you will encounter two types: shared car — buying individual seats, traveling with other passengers on a fixed schedule — and private car — chartering the whole vehicle, departing whenever you choose. The most common question is: how many people in your group does a private car become more worth it? The table in this article answers with real prices for 9 routes.
What are the differences?
| Shared car | Private car | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing | Per seat | Whole car, regardless of passenger count |
| Departure time | Fixed schedule | Your choice |
| Pick-up & drop-off | Fixed points on the route, some with inner-city pick-up | Door-to-door at the address you provide |
| En-route stops | Only at the operator's rest stops | Stop for photos, meals as you wish |
| Travel companions | Strangers | Only your group |
When should you choose a shared car?
Traveling with one to three people, on a relaxed schedule, and the shared car's time slot works for you — a shared car is significantly cheaper. On routes running hourly like Đà Nẵng – Huế or Hội An – Huế, a shared car costs you almost nothing extra compared to a private car.
When should you choose a private car?
- Large group: exceeding the passenger threshold in the table below makes a private car equal or cheaper.
- Traveling with young children or the elderly: stop to rest when needed, no dragging luggage to a pick-up point.
- Routes with few departures: like Nha Trang – Mũi Né which only has a few shared trips a day, a private car frees you from being dictated by the bus schedule.
- Want to sightsee along the way: Hải Vân pass peak, Vĩnh Hy bay, Gành Đá Đĩa — only a private car can stop.
From how many people is a private car cheaper?
Divide the price of a 4–7 seater private car by the cheapest shared car ticket on the same route:
| Route | Shared car, per passenger | Private car 4–7 seater, whole car | Private car is equal or cheaper from |

| Đà Nẵng → Huế | 210.000 ₫ | 1.200.000 ₫ | 6 people |
| Hội An → Huế | 320.000 ₫ | 1.700.000 ₫ | 6 people |
| Sài Gòn → Vũng Tàu | 300.000 ₫ | 1.200.000 ₫ | 4 people |

Prices taken from the Go365 booking system, updated 21/09/2026. The calculation only compares ticket costs; a private car also includes door-to-door pick-up and flexible timing, things that cannot be quantified in money.
On each route page of Go365, shared and private cars are in the same table so you can compare prices right away — for example, Nha Trang to Đà Lạt cars or Đà Nẵng to Huế cars. Unsure which type of shared car to choose? Read more about how limousines differ from sleeper buses.
