Liên Khương Airport to Central Đà Lạt: 5 Ways to Get There, Times & Tips 2026

·

Since 19 August 2026, Liên Khương Airport is operating again after more than five months closed for a runway upgrade. The aircraft are landing — but the first practical question every arriving passenger asks is still: how do I get from the airport into central Đà Lạt, how long does it take, and should I book ahead or just sort it out on arrival?

This guide answers all of that: the real distance and travel time, five ways to make the trip with their pros and cons, how to choose based on who you are travelling with, and the quirks of this particular highland road that first-time visitors tend to miss.

How far is Liên Khương Airport from central Đà Lạt?

Liên Khương International Airport lies in the Đức Trọng area, about 30–35 km from central Đà Lạt (the Hoà Bình area and Đà Lạt market), depending on the route you take. By car the journey usually takes 40–50 minutes; with light traffic it can be done in 30–40.

The main route runs along the Liên Khương – Prenn expressway and then climbs the Prenn Pass into the city. It is a beautiful stretch of road in good condition, but two things are worth knowing: the Prenn Pass has continuous bends, and early mornings and late afternoons often bring thick fog that sharply reduces visibility. Whatever transport you choose, this is not a road to rush on because you are running late.

Five ways to get from Liên Khương Airport to Đà Lạt

1. Pre-booked airport transfer (recommended)

This is the tidiest option for air passengers: you book in advance against your actual flight number, the driver tracks the landing time, waits in the arrivals hall and takes you straight to your hotel address. The advantages are a price fixed in advance with no surprises, no queueing, and real peace of mind on late-night flights when the supply of vehicles at the airport thins out.

You can book the Liên Khương Airport – Đà Lạt transfer from Go365; from 350,000₫ per vehicle (private 4-seater), with current prices and vehicle types shown on the booking page. If you are a larger group or carrying a lot of luggage, state the number of passengers and suitcases when booking so the right vehicle is assigned.

2. Taxi at the airport

Taxis are always available outside the arrivals hall. The upside is that you leave immediately with nothing booked in advance. The downside is that the fare depends on the meter and traffic, so it is hard to budget, and when several flights land in quick succession you will be queueing. If you take a taxi, ask for an estimated fare to the centre before getting in and stick to clearly branded operators.

3. Airport bus

This is the cheapest option. The bus runs to meet flights and drops passengers in central Đà Lạt. In exchange, you wait for the bus to fill, you are set down at a shared stop rather than at your hotel door, and space for bulky luggage is limited. It suits solo travellers with light bags and no tight schedule.

4. Shared ride

A shared car splits the cost between a few passengers heading the same way — cheaper than a private vehicle while still dropping you close to your destination. The trade-off is that departure time depends on the other passengers and the car may make several drop-offs. It is a sensible middle ground if you are not in a hurry.

5. Motorbike rental or self-drive

Some younger travellers rent a motorbike to explore independently. Think it through: the 30–35 km includes a mountain pass, highland weather changes fast, and you will be doing it straight off a flight with luggage on your back. If you want to self-drive, the sensible sequence is to take a transfer into the centre first and rent a motorbike in Đà Lạt the next day for getting around town.

Which option suits which traveller?

  • Families with small children or older relatives: a pre-booked private vehicle. The Prenn Pass has a lot of bends and children get carsick easily — with a private car you can also stop whenever you need to.
  • Couples and groups of two to four: a private 4–7 seater usually works out close to taxi cost per head, with far more certainty about timing.
  • Corporate groups and team-building trips: book 16, 29 or 45-seat coaches against the landing time, and add the next day's sightseeing programme at the same time.
  • International arrivals from Kuala Lumpur (the route is back with four return flights a week): book a transfer with a name-board meet-and-greet so you are not hunting for transport straight after immigration.

Practical tips for this leg

  • Allow time for baggage. From wheels-down to walking out into the hall usually takes another 15–25 minutes. When booking a transfer, give the landing time, not the time you imagine you will emerge.
  • Morning fog is completely normal. If your flight lands before 07:00, don't schedule sightseeing for that same morning — leave one or two hours of slack.
  • The temperature difference is significant. You might leave Ho Chi Minh City at 33°C and step out in Đà Lạt at 17–19°C. Keep a layer in your cabin bag rather than in the hold.
  • Write your hotel address in full, including the street. Đà Lạt has many homestays with near-identical names; a complete address stops your driver going to the wrong one.
  • Tell your driver if the flight is delayed. With a pre-booked transfer, one message is enough to shift the pickup time — something you cannot do with a vehicle hailed on the spot.

The return leg: Đà Lạt to Liên Khương Airport

The outbound leg is where plans more often go wrong, because you have to work backwards from check-in. Safe rules of thumb:

  • Domestic flights: leave your hotel about 2.5 hours before departure (40–50 minutes on the road plus check-in and a buffer).
  • International flights: leave about 3–3.5 hours before departure.
  • For an early-morning flight, book the car the evening before and confirm the pickup time before you go to bed.

You can book the Đà Lạt – Liên Khương Airport transfer against your flight time, with pickup from your hotel in the centre.

If your flight doesn't land at Liên Khương

In this first phase Liên Khương handles 36–40 flights a day, linking Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh, Hai Phong, Can Tho and Kuala Lumpur. If there is no direct flight from where you are starting, the two familiar overland approaches into Đà Lạt still hold up well:
