At day's end, when the light softens and the sea turns orange-purple, a private sunset speedboat on Nha Trang Bay is well worth trying — especially for couples, anniversaries, proposals or photo shoots. A private boat lets you control the timing and pick the best vantage point.
The best time for a sunset speedboat
Sunset in Nha Trang varies by season, usually around 17:30 – 18:20. Board the speedboat about 60–75 minutes before sunset to reach the viewpoint in time, catch the golden hour and stay as the sky turns purple. The dry season (about February–August) is usually clear with little rain — great for a beautiful sunset.
A romantic sunset route
- Cruise along the bay toward Hòn Tằm – Hòn Một, watching the sun set behind the mountains and islands
- Loop near Trần Phú Bridge – the central coast for views of the city lighting up
- Anchor in calm water for photos and your own drinks
Safety & preparation
- Always wear a life jacket; bring a light jacket for the evening sea breeze
- Check the weather and sea conditions beforehand; avoid rough-sea days
- Carry your phone/camera in a waterproof bag; charge it to capture the full golden hour
- Confirm a safe return time with the boat operator for after dark
Cost: the private speedboat does NOT include the bay fee if you land on an island
If the sunset trip only cruises the bay without landing, you mainly pay for the speedboat. But if you land on an island (Hòn Tằm, Hòn Một…), the bay sightseeing fee and island entrance tickets apply — and they are not part of the speedboat price. See the full fee list in our article on Nha Trang Bay sightseeing fees & island tickets.
