What is an e-visa?
An electronic visa (e-visa) is a visa issued online by Vietnam's immigration authorities. Applicants fill in the form, upload photos, pay the fee online and receive the result online, without visiting an embassy or consulate.

Points to note
- Domain: Vietnam's official portal uses the domain evisa.gov.vn. There are also service websites that submit applications on your behalf and charge an additional service fee; you can apply yourself on the official portal.
- Match your passport: full name, date of birth, nationality and passport number should be entered exactly as in your passport. According to published information, an application cannot be edited after payment and the fee is non-refundable.
- Ports of entry: the e-visa is used to enter and exit through the ports listed on evisa.gov.vn (airports, land border gates, seaports). Check the list before applying.
- Timing: apply at least 1 week before departure to allow time for any corrections.
- One application per person: each member of your group, including children, submits a separate application with their own passport.
- Length of stay: your stay is limited to the period shown on the e-visa. Staying longer requires the procedures set out in the regulations.
Visa exemptions
Citizens of some countries are exempt from a visa when entering Vietnam, under Vietnam's unilateral policy or bilateral agreements, with different lengths of stay depending on nationality. The list and durations may change over time, so please check for your nationality before travelling.
There are also some local or programme-specific arrangements, for example:
- Phu Quoc: a separate visa exemption for foreigners entering to visit Phu Quoc, with conditions on the port of entry and travel area.
- Chinese tour groups to Khanh Hoa: under Resolution 325/NQ-CP dated 12/10/2026, a pilot visa exemption applies to Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports (excluding Hong Kong and Macao passports) travelling in groups of 2 or more on a package tour organised by an international travel company selected by the authorities; flying directly from mainland China to Cam Ranh International Airport, entering and exiting through the same airport, travelling only within Khanh Hoa province, for up to 30 days. The programme runs until 31/12/2027. Independent travellers and those outside this scheme need a visa or e-visa as usual.
Island tours
Some islands, especially those in maritime border areas, have specific rules for foreigners; for some nationalities, access may be restricted. When booking an island tour or ferry ticket, foreign travellers are kindly asked to tell us the nationality of each person in the group so Go365 can check before confirming.
