The Dom Kralor – Voeung Kham border gate is the legal crossing between Laos and Cambodia, and also the starting point for a route very few Vietnamese tourists know about. This 2-day journey connects directly from the Lao border down to Siem Reap, traversing the pristine northeast region of Cambodia.
The highlight is Preah Vihear temple – a UNESCO world heritage site perched on the cliffs of the Dangrek Mountains at an altitude of over 500m, overlooking the entire Cambodian plain. This is one of the most beautiful Khmer temples, yet it is much less crowded than Angkor.
The second leg takes you through Koh Ker – the ancient capital of the 10th-century Khmer Empire, featuring the seven-tiered pyramid of Prasat Thom, before returning to Siem Reap. DAY 1: DOM KRALOR BORDER GATE – PREAH VIHEAR – STUNG TRENG
- Our guide and private vehicle will pick you up at Dom Kralor Border Gate, assisting with Cambodian immigration procedures.
- Depart for Preah Vihear Temple. Switch to an off-road vehicle to climb the slopes of the Dangrek Mountains, explore the temple complex, and enjoy panoramic views of the plains from the cliff edge.
- Return to Stung Treng to check in and spend the night by the Mekong River.
DAY 2: STUNG TRENG – KOH KER – SIEM REAP
- Have breakfast at the hotel, check out, and depart for Siem Reap.
- Stop to visit Koh Ker – the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire, and admire the seven-tiered pyramid of Prasat Thom amidst the ancient forest.
- Enjoy lunch en route, continue to Siem Reap, and conclude the tour.
