Our one-day Quang Binh tour begins by exploring Paradise Cave, a dry cave dubbed the “Underground Palace”. This cave is famous for its magnificent stalactites and stalagmites, forming a grand landscape rivaling any ancient palace in the world. The journey continues to Phong Nha Cave, known as the longest water cave in Southeast Asia. Here, beyond the majestic limestone scenery, lies a complex underground river system, offering visitors a rare opportunity to explore and experience.
Detailed itinerary
07:00 Pickup in Dong Hoi
We pick you up at locations such as hotels, the train station and the airport in Dong Hoi. For guests arriving early on morning trains and coaches, we will take you to our office to rest and relax before departure.
08:00 Depart for Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park
Set off from Dong Hoi to Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. The first stop takes you to Paradise Cave, one of the largest dry caves in Asia, also known as the “Underground Palace”.
09:00 Visit Paradise Cave
Take an electric buggy for 1.6 km, then continue on foot up the mountainside to the entrance of Paradise Cave. Though the entrance is small and narrow, inside opens up a vast space with a ceiling 40–60 m high and a widest point reaching 120 m. The cool air inside feels like a completely different world from the heat of Quang Binh's summer.
A wooden stairway leads visitors into a wonderful world full of the colors and shapes of stalactites. Soft LED lighting highlights the scenery without spoiling its natural beauty. True to its nickname the “Underground Palace”, the cave amazes with large stalactites, stalagmites and unique rock formations.
Inside, you will see nature's masterpieces, from stalagmites resembling flowers and sprouting plants to stalactite cascades pouring from the ceiling. Magnificent rock structures such as the Central Highlands Rong House, the Cham Tower and the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara each have their own distinctive charm. In 2019, Paradise Cave was recognized as the cave with “the most unique and magnificent stalactite and stalagmite system in Asia”. After two hours of exploration, visitors follow the same route back to the parking area, completing the visit with unforgettable memories.
11:30 Lunch at a restaurant in the National Park
After visiting Paradise Cave, you will be invited to a restaurant within the National Park area for lunch featuring local specialties, in a peaceful and airy setting.
13:30 Explore Phong Nha Cave
After enjoying lunch with local specialties, visitors continue the journey to Phong Nha Cave. From the restaurant, the group moves to the dragon-boat pier on the Son River. Here, visitors board a dragon boat to begin a 30-minute cruise along the cool, green river, surrounded by beautiful natural scenery.
Sitting on the boat, visitors feel the peace of the scenery, admiring riverside villages and majestic limestone ranges in the distance. The river leads to the entrance of Phong Nha Cave, where nature's wonder gradually reveals itself through the majestic and mysterious beauty of stalactites and stalagmites.
Stepping inside, visitors are overwhelmed by the shimmering, magical beauty of the stalactite system lit by flashlight. Stone curtains, stalagmites and glistening formations like diamonds create unique shapes. The deeper you go, the more you will be amazed by hidden sandbanks, underground lakes and sparkling rock beds, all creating a fairy-tale-like scene.
While exploring famous chambers such as Bi Ky, Co Tien and Cung Dinh, you will have the chance to take memorable photos among the splendid stalactites that clearly show their unique geomorphological value. Don't forget to look for the ancient Cham inscriptions and listen to the legend of King Ham Nghi's treasure.
This journey takes you through corridors covered in stalactites, in the cool, fresh air of the earth. Enjoy the wonderful beauty created by nature, so that every step brings a sense of awe and respect for this wonder. This will surely be an unforgettable experience, leaving lasting memories of the sun- and wind-filled land of Quang Binh.
